This is a horror comedy, also known as a Dark Comedy. I bought this book after downloading the sample chapters. I was hooked after Bill yells a Darkwing Duck quote at the vampires while trying to escape.

Let me back up. On the way home from a day of shopping for D&D Manuals and gaming figurines, Bill meets knockout Sally on the subway. After a bit of flirting, Sally invites Bill to a party. Bill shows up, only to find the party is really a vampire hazing. They invite a bunch of geeks, turn them into vampires, and then kill them for laughs (ok?…)

Well, Bill fights back. An elder vampire guest admires his pluck, and forces Night Razor, the leader of this vamp group, to keep Bill alive. Except, it turns out that Bill is different than most vampires. Where other vampires are forced to listen to their elders, Bill is more of a …free spirit, shall we say.

The whole thing is well paced, and several parts are laugh out loud funny. This book is a guilty pleasure for me, however. There are many many sexist jokes, and Bill ends almost every chapter by calling Sally a bitch.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book (guiltily, I might add). A lot of the jokes might be over the head of non-geeks, but even so, I think there is still a lot here for everyone.
