I found this to be very clear and smart analysis of fascism, corporate power, and communism. It was very accessible and informative and I would highly recommend it to anybody who is worried about fascism and/or curious about communism.

The arguments made in this book are really important ones, especially in light of what is currently happening in the US. I didn't care for the way a lot of the arguments were constructed, but some of that might just come down to how limiting the length is. I also don't understand why Mao Zedong wasn't discussed at all--that felt pretty glaring. But the final chapter on cl*ss was definitely the stongest.
Getting to read and discuss this with Luella, my favorite world history expert, was such a joy. I got so much more out of the book than I would have otherwise.

A decent enough entry-level book for potential communists.
Interesting content but a bit disorganized.
Starting out with how capitalism aids fascism and the many crimes against humanity directly or indirectly caused by America and the west.
Then defending communists states.
Then about why soviet union fell and the outcomes of that.
Then a defense of Marxism in a modern context. (1990s when the book was written)
Then talking about how capitalism destroys the environment.
The only red string through the book is being anti capitalist, but that's a very broad topic. Still a book that if most liberals read it, the world would be a better place.
