When I read the descriptions for this book on NetGalley I was super excited to have access early and to read it. Unfortunately, the changing timeline, the back and forth between places and characters really confused me. I never got a handle of Ginny’s character and what she had been through in her life. I wish I could say I loved this one, but I think there are some parts that got lost in translation.

While the story is powerful and emotional the writing just didn’t do it for me. I wasn’t taken into the story. The book is written in pieces. So you get a piece of this and a piece of this but not what happened before or after. This made me often more confused than actually interested. The ending however was great as I also felt the weight get off my shoulders just like the character.

This would have probably been more meaningful in print rather than audio but I just didn’t care enough. Not a favorite and it felt like a very tired take on the journey from sexual assault trauma to agency.

This book was not really for me.

I'm not sure if it lost something in translation, or if the cultural context was missing. Either way I didn't connect with Jinhee, and had a hard time following the threads of the story.

This book was very fast paced and an enjoyable read. I was very interested in the subjects discussed and it was overall a very fascinating book. However it was very hard to understand how and where th 2 time periods in the story connected.

Super short but had some very impactful and emotional sections. Definitely an interesting read but not quite my taste in writing style, still good though!
