Trite, slight, and uninteresting. I decided not to add it to my library's collection.

Cute, little book. You definitely see how the young girl matures when writing to her great-grandmother.

I got about six pages in, and was really bothered by the letters the 12 year old main character, Annabelle, was writing - they were very formal, stilted, and completely unlike any middle school girl I've ever dealt with. A quick look at the back, and sure enough, it's been translated from French (which also explains the out of date computer mentions and the Titanic name check, as it was originally published in 1999). So I'm not sure if the unnatural tone (and I mean unnatural - Annabelle speaks in the same style as her great-grandmother) is the way it was originally written, or if it's due to the translation.
A sweet, short, and verging-on-boring read. The illustrations are cute, but nothing special. A simple and easy to follow story told in a unappealing style.
