Writing was okay, but not great. The plot felt disjointed.
Great book!
This book was awesome. The only thing missing was more of max' pov. I wanted more of him in the book. But overall, great book. I finished this book in a day, that's how hooked I was. I mean, who wouldn't want MAX?!

Two small business neighbors crushing on each other. I didn’t love the MMC’s attitude when they were forced to share space. 🔥 the end was cute

Honestly, for the average rating I thought this was pretty good for the first two thirds. It had some major issues for my tastes as a reader (I lean towards slow burns where I can see all of the relationships grow and this just jumped pretty quick to a relationship of sorts) and the "enemies" portion of the story felt like it was included for the sake of the blurb...seriously...the summary of the book has all components of the antagonistic behavior. But overall, not terrible.
My issue came in the third act break up. It was a huge blow up fight--over some pretty legitimate issues--and I don't think that the relationship was developed strongly enough on page (there's a six week or so time skip) to warrant all of the immediate forgiving between characters. Then all of the other sideplots also got magically fixed within the span of a few pages. It all felt too easy and simplistic...and therefore not at all believable.
Finally. In the last thirty pages of the book or so I had this thought that Whitney was basically like a cardboard prop just there to tell the main characters how cute they were. And then proceeded to do so four times in the last 30 pages. Almost identical wording every single time. That more than anything made me sad.
All in all...it is a fast paced book that intentionally wraps eveything up super neatly because it doesn't provide a ton of room for believable character growth.

It took me awhile to finish this book. I loved the idea of this book but the execution was a bit lacklustre. The writing style was ok.. the characters were ok.. just overall, it was ok and a bit forgettable. I enjoyed the pining and the crush phase between Max and Joelle but once they were together, it wasn't great. Some scenes were cute and I enjoyed Joelle's family but it felt like something was missing.
lighthearted
He's a bookstore owner. She's a bakeshop owner. And there is a massive renovation happening on their shared building, forcing them to share a new space until the renovations are complete. *cough forced proximity cough cough*
And although Max may look handsome, rugged, and like the bad boy of her dreams... his attitude is just... bad. Joelle is the sunshine, to his midnight rain. With the shared spaces, and business problems, they'll be forced to deal with each other and see if they can cohabit the space.
My feels: It was sweet and cute, and I really liked it!
*Gifted by Netgalley & Berkley - thank you! All opinions are my own.
