I bought this book simply because of the dedication in the second book—and it did not disappoint. While it had a slow beginning, I found I was 100 pages in before I realized it and nearly finished this book in one day. The last 60 pages were hard to get through. I was all for Leon until I wasn’t. I don’t think I can ever back behind his character—even if he and Viv are fated mates. But when the spicy was spicin’ boy was it spicin! I cannot wait to read the second book but after realizing that the third book isn’t out yet, that second book will be collecting dust in my shelf till next year. I am dying to meet Sin and pray pray pray he is better than Leon—and from that little treat teaser at the end of the book, I am banking on Sin to be her other half of this prophecy thing and have so many questions I hope the next two books answer. Sin…you sound as delicious as your name!

I picked up this book mostly for the dedication, but the story didn’t quite deliver for me. It ends on a cliffhanger, leaving lots unresolved—feels more like a setup than a complete arc.
The dynamic between Vivian and Leon was full of red flags. Leon gave me the ick in a big way. Thankfully, Vivian’s strength and humour carried the story—she genuinely made me laugh out loud which can be a rarity for me.
Narratively, it’s an easy read from her perspective, but I found myself skimming parts, especially the spice scenes which weren’t for me for this book. I would’ve loved insight into other characters’ minds to add more depth.
No standout quotes stuck with me, Vivian's development of powers showed promise. I’ll be picking up the second book purely to chase down some answers—but for now, I’m holding off on recommending it until I see where the story goes. Be aware of the triggers before starting the series.
