This book was my first time dipping my toes into fantasy. And what a fantastic book to start with.

It begins with Vivian in her younger years being saved from brushes with death by a ghost and trying to understand her ability to see ghosts. It goes on to Vivian needing to help those from another realm and her becoming the keeper of a destroyer. Following her and Leon in on their quest.

I couldn't put this book down and was so invested in Vivian's journey. The spice was

I had high hopes for this book and while I didn’t hate it I didn’t love it either.

The first 50% of the book you don’t know who the love interest might remotely be and then when the twist happens and he is introduced it goes from 0 to 100

I felt like I was reading two separate books put together. Both with interesting plots but not necessarily the most connected. I also hated the MMC once he was introduced. I loved the FMC and her friends though. I want more of their story.

First I want to thank the author for gifting me a copy off the book for review.

Well at first I was a bit sceptical about it. It started slow and I was so doubtful that I would like it. But until halfway through it just pick up to run and doesn’t stop until one of the worst cliffhangers I have read in recent times.

Well you can say I really enjoyed my time with this book it was fun fast paced fun world and Word building very interesting. Will I want to read more and now yes.
I love this as a start for the trilogy because all the world building is done now the next book we can truly dive into it.

This review was also written a couple of hours after I finished the book because I needed to give it sometime to process in my brain. Because I’m still hung up about that cliffhanger

Creation’s Captive was really fast paced and I really, thoroughly enjoyed the beginning of the book. I loved the eerie vibe of Vivian’s ghostly visits and her adaption to her “new normal”.

I hate that just after it seemed that she got the life she deserved it took such a drastic turn. I just want this girl to be happy!!

Leon!! I’ve never loved a character only to deeply hate him after 2 chapters. I really feel so sorry for Vivian for giving him her virtue and he turns out to be such a domineering, narcissistic asshat.

All in all I enjoyed the journey this book took me on. I loved the twists and turns. The author did a really good job with the world building in each new world and the characters were really well developed.

“Creation’s Captive” is the first book in the Broken Souls Trilogy.

The FMC of the book is Vivian, who unexpectedly started seeing ghosts four years ago. The beginning of the book tells about that day, and after that, the book jumps 4 years forward. Now Vivian has moved across the country, is attending university, and still sees ghosts without knowing why.

I liked the friendships between Vivian and her new friends from the university.

One day Vivian’s world changes when she meets the MMC of the book, Leon, who is both charming and insufferable at the same time. Leon and Vivian are fated mates, but I didn’t feel the connection or chemistry between the characters.

The overall idea of the book is interesting. Vivian as a character was well introduced, but I would have liked to learn more about Leon. This is the first book of a trilogy, so maybe the next two books will reveal more about Leon and his past.

The pacing of the book was quite fast, especially towards the end.

I would also like to learn more about the world and the “bad guys,” but I’m sure there will be more information about them in the coming books.

There are some dark elements in the book, but I don’t know whether I would classify it as a dark romance or more like a paranormal romance because the focus of the book seemed to be more on the paranormal elements.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.
