A fresh, strong, personal poetry collection. Listening to the audio book read by Pennie herself was ideal for appreciating the use of Scots language and her styles which makes strong use of rhyme. Just sometimes the passion of her reading made it harder to get a hold on a poem for myself but overall I loved her intensity.

I am obsessed with Sylvia Plath, and this book is as good. Len Pennie is a brilliant writer of rhyming poems, which seems to be a lost art in modern times. She writes in the Scots Languge, which is just beautiful. Every poem is a powerful punch to the gut. Each one made me think deeply and wonder how someone can write with such poignancy, pain and beauty all at once.
The feminist themes filled with rage and pain boiled over into each poem is perfection. LGBTQ affirming. I can't say enough good about this book.
Just a brilliant book that I will keep forever and read over and over again. If you have a poet in you life, this is an excellent book for a gift.
