deeply moving. contrary to what a lot of reviews (especially at its time of release) seem to say, I found this to be a very nuanced character study with a complex  approach to moral philosophy. belongs in the canon of great american novels

One of the most beautiful books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Dare I say, this is my favorite book I have ever read. All the characters are beautiful representations of the diversity of the human soul, the lack thereof, and is a love letter to humanity completely.

Not only was the prose stunning, but the characterization of each character, of each soul and mind, was so beautifully executed...I mourned with them, I laughed with them, and I loved every character I met. I was nervous with the length of this book, but I'm more than happy that I finished it.

I love, love, love, love this book, and recommend it to anyone who wants to read a beautiful book about two families who, at the core, want to be loved.
