Süße Geschichte, eigentlich recht kurzweilig und doch haben sich manche Passagen (für 220 Seiten) ganz schön gezogen. Gibt definitiv stärkere spicy romance!
Neve Wilder brought the heat, heart, and snark for Book 4! Spencer and Cory are the definition of what enemies-to-lovers would look like in a picture dictionary. They don’t start out as enemies, but Spencer throws that gauntlet down like birdseed in an open jeep (IYKYK) when he finds Cory parked in his spot, forcing him to park near a dumpster nowhere near the LaL House. Since it isn’t the first time someone from DIK house has parked in his spot, this goes over about as well as one would expect in a sexy snarkfest.
Spencer works, goes to school and… that’s it. He works hard to keep his scholarship so he doesn’t have to rely on his parents. After his mom’s cancer diagnosis makes their ends not meet as well as they once did, he wants to take off some of the pressure from their lives.
Cory is the antithesis of hard work; his parents pay for everything, and he’s never had to work a day in his life. Of course, things not always being as they appear, Cory voluntarily worked on a small fishing/tour vessel over the summer and loved every minute of it. He also understands everything he’s learning in classes – despite being asleep. You see, Cory is a lot smarter and far less lazy than he projects. Everyone loves Cory, so this sexy guy screaming at him about a parking spot isn’t something that he’s used to.
When Cory’s frat bros bet that he can’t make Spencer like him, let alone sleep with him, Cory takes that bet and considers it an easy win with an awesome meal as the prize. What Cory doesn’t expect is to have so much in common with Spencer or to enjoy the fight that Spencer puts up against Cory and his unrelenting efforts. When they finally come together and Spencer realizes that he’s moving beyond voyeurism and blatant dislike, Cory’s original intentions come to light.
Can Cory convince Spencer that his feelings are real and not the result of a stupid bet? Can Spencer forgive Cory for the error of his ways and see that he’s all in? Will DIKCon be a win for Spencer and Cory or will Cory’s Umbrella-ella-ella fail to open?
I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy and, as always, my review is unpaid and honest.

I’ve been enjoying reading the books in the interconnected Franklin U series and this one was no exception. I was a little unsure when I read the premise – it seemed a tad icky to be making bets on seducing someone and reminded me far too much of Cruel Intentions – but I was interested enough to keep reading and am glad I did.
Cory and Spencer are a very cute couple, with their in-jokes, their ability to laugh at themselves at each other, and their interactions from their bedroom windows were extremely hot. It was obvious from the very beginning that the whole bet thing was going to come back and bite Cory on the butt – however, it was so enjoyable up until that point that it was easy to put it out of my mind. The background characters were fun and interesting, as was the whole DIKCon that was going on, and this book was an extremely easy read.
I appreciated the reactions to the whole bet situation coming to life – there were no attempts to shrug it off or pretend that it wasn’t offensive. I also felt that Cory definitely realised what he had done wrong and was sincere in his grovelling. It didn’t hurt that he did his big gesture using one of my favourite TV moments featuring Tom Holland, and the imagery of the re-enaction was absolutely spot on!
I’m looking forward to reading the next instalment of Franklin U and am happy to recommend this as a fun, satisfying addition to the series.
I received an ARC from GRR.

If you're reading the Franklin U series in order, you'll know that Liam TRIED to warn Spence that the LaL house is right next to the DIK frat house in book three, Mr. Romance. If only Spence had listened... LOL
This is sort of enemies to lovers but not? There needs to be a trope category for one-sided animosity to lovers, haha. Spencer first meets frat boy Cory in less than ideal circumstances - Cory has just stolen Spencer's assigned parking spot, and is just another in a long line of his frat bros to do so and yet receives the full force of Spencer's tired, garbage-smelling wrath.
It's been a while since I read a brought together by a bet trope, and yes, the third act drama is exactly what you'd expect from this trope, but I still enjoyed the heck out of it anyway. The book as a whole is a bit predictable, but still a really fun, flirty, fluffy read.
I really REALLY like Cory. I guess like everyone else I have fallen prey to his relentless good-natured charm. Spencer is also interesting and I love that he's passionate about cosplay and conventions (when he has time between work and school, anyway). Cosplay nerds unite!! I was almost as invested in the relationship between Cory and Spence's besties as I was in the main romance storyline. I think we also get a little glimpse of a couple of the other leads in the upcoming books, and I'm already really excited for Remy's book!!
This is the fourth book in the Franklin U series. The FUKings books are all standalones set in the same universe and each written by a different author. As the blurb in the front matter says, "You don't need to read the other to enjoy this one (though you should, because they're awesome)." Can confirm 10/10 are awesome.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are unbiased and my own.

I've been enjoying this series, and I really wanted to like this book. And I did in parts. I liked Spencer and his fierceness. I liked his close friendship with Darcy, who was also incredibly fierce. I like how both of them stood up for themselves.
I had a harder time getting into the book, and I know it's because I thought Cory was annoying pest that believed he could just charm anyone into getting his way. He was constantly trying to see what he could push Spencer into doing, like it was a contest he would win. Hence the bet that occurs between him and his frat brothers. Right from the first, when he took Spencer's parking spot, he didn't seem to have any empathy about the inconvenience he just caused Spencer, who had to park a long way away when Spencer was busy and had to get to work. To me, it showed a disregard to others. He was basically an entitled rich guy.
Which isn't bad. I love a good "jerk who starts to develop empathy" story, where through time or interactions, he starts to realize that the other guy is pretty great. That happens to Cory. He starts to like Spencer, thinking his motivation for wanting to be around Spencer was changing. Which was good, but we didn't get to see that while it happened. All of a sudden, they were doing more things together. I think it muted the so-called internal growth I needed to see in order to believe it and start to connect and empathize with Cory.
