Well, I hold my hands up, the BookTok girlies were right when they said this was a great romance book!

This is the first romance book I’ve ever read, being a solid thriller/mystery/crime/historical/literary fiction reader and I was bracing myself for another overhyped TikTok recommendation. I’m happy to admit I was pleasantly described at just how much I enjoyed reading this book.

Whilst it’s not a page turner in the sense of page turners in thrillers for example, it definitely has a gripping plot that will have you feeling all of the feels. I like that there were a couple of different strands of storyline, each of which captured my interested and towards the end especially had me shocked with surprise.

Overall a great, easy romance read, especially if you’re going on holiday/vacation or even if you need a palette cleanse!

This was my first Abby Jimenez book. This was very delightful to listen too. It's nice hearing the Q&A at the end to highlight why there were certain character choices. Will be reading more from her for sure.

I wanna say 5 stars no notes, but obviously I have notes🤣 I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a romance book this much- maybe a year ago? I have to say I went in a bit hesitant because it was summer themed, but I honestly didn’t mind that at all. I loved the author’s writing, how fast-paced this was, how funny it was, and I just felt like the characters were written so beautifully. The plot was so entertaining. I didn’t want the book to end and I want there to be a sequel, but I don’t think there will be because it’s an interconnected standalone series, but I have no idea tbh. I was just shook how much I liked it and that I read a 400 page book in less than a week, that’s rare for me lol. AND I am not usually a fan of romance books that are that long, and the fact that I loved this and didn’t want it to end, says a lot about how good this was💓

Loved the love story. I thought i read this when I first started it. I feel like it's similar to something else I read but can't place it.

This broke my heart in a good way. First romance novel to make me cry. Would have been 5 stars except one random verb was way overused, which I found very distracting (not sure how that made it past edits?). Otherwise a perfect story with graceful depictions of post-trauma and mental health issues. I think audio is better than print for this series given the emotional tones.

This was sooo sweet I enjoyed it so much. A really authentic and heartfelt exploration of how past trauma affects and leaks into all aspects of your life, including relationships. I expected it to be super predictable but it surprised me - eventually what I expected to happen DID happen, but I liked the ride we took to get there. I also typically don't like the instalove trope but I thought it was done a lot better here than it usually is. Emma and Justin's love story felt realistic and I loved watching it develop.

The writing in this was so fun and lighthearted but also serious when it needed to be, and I really enjoyed the main characters and their dynamic. Justin was so sweet and I had to laugh when they literally voiced that he was the epitome of "if he wanted to, he would" because that's exactly what I was thinking the whole time. Both the leads having mommy traummy hit kinda hard at times 👁️ I do think literally every character needs badly to go to therapy but it seems like we got there in the end. My only critique is it seemed like we crammed a lot in the last thirdish of the book and it made the pacing feel a bit off, but I really like how everything wrapped up so I don't mind it too much. Looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this universe!
