This is my first Abby Jimenez book and I liked it, mostly. I didn’t realize it was part of a series until
all the other main characters showed up and very clearly referenced the other books,
which I didn’t love, but for the most part it was fun. I liked the MMC a lot; I don’t read romance novels for characterization so he was a pleasant surprise.

It was a fun book. And I KNOW romcoms aren’t supposed to make complete sense. But this was just a bridge too far. I’m not giving anything away to say that a huge mental health issue was overcome in less than half a year. It was so implausible that it kinda ruined the story for me. It’s an easy beach read for an afternoon.

This book had me staying up until 4 am to find out what would happen to Emma and Justin. Their romance had me kicking my feet in the air and rooting for them the whole time. Jimenez writes complex characters that feel so real and raw. I immediately put every other book by her on hold from the library upon finishing!

The pacing of the book and the way it progressed was perfect, except the ending felt a bit rushed when they fast forwarded 6 months into the future.
