I absolutely loved this story. It was reflective and I love the time the main characters took to understand themselves and process their grief, and other issues. Not only did they work on themselves for personal growth, but to hopefully one day come together and be better for each other.

This book made me appreciate slow burn and yearning. Justin was a type of guy in a story that I never I needed. He yearned for Emma… like really wanted her. It was beautiful to read a story that didn’t use smut as the plot and depicted the want for another person without over sexualizing it.

In a way this book also showed me the importance of forgiveness, not just for other people but for yourself as well. To be curious about why people do the things they do, and to choose empathy over anger.

The love that is depicted is just… I couldn’t even describe it to you.

“The best kind of love doesn’t happen on moonlit walks and romantic vacations. It happens in between the folds of every day life. It’s not grand gestures that show how you feel, it’s all the little secret things you do to make life better that you never tell her about” (p. 392).

“This is the kind of love that forever is made of. Because if it’s this good when life is draining and mundane and hard, think of how wonderful it will be when the love songs are playing and the moon is out” (p. 392).

While romantic love is the main plot point, familial and platonic love is also very evident. The way Maddy is protective of Emma and cares for her. The way Justin took care of his siblings and how his friends took care of him. It all balanced out.

I genuinely enjoyed reading this book and has set yet another standard of man for me lol.
