This is the first book I have read by Abby Jimenez and it was really good. Now I’m interested in reading her other books to spot the easter eggs that she put into this book.

I really enjoyed the romance and dynamic between Emma and Justin. However the interesting thing about this book is the romance isn’t the only main focus of the book. The book also deals with heavy topics surrounding mental illness, abandonment issues, etc. I felt like Abby did it really well. I also appreciated the content warning at the beginning of the book to warn those who may find such topics triggering.

I did have a couple issues while reading the book, like some of Emma’s actions and how she handled things but then again I tried to remind myself why she was doing those things at the same time. I also got so fed up with Amber and I understand why Maddy hated her guts.

Also the way that Justin took care of his siblings melted my heart. You could tell that he really was trying to fill the void of his mom not being there. If I were Emma I would’ve fallen in love with him so fast. I do understand her hesitation though and not wanting to jump into a relationship with him given her past trauma, but I am glad that she came around in the end.

Spoiler alert ahead:
As much as I would have loved for Emma to run into Justin’s arms immediately after realizing that she loved him, I do however really like how she made the decision to work on herself first and get the help she needed before she could commit to being in a relationship.

I really liked the ending and how it ended with the reddit post just like how it started. Very cute read.

I will say though the one thing that always gets me about romance books is how the main characters fall in love so fast after barely knowing each other😂 It’s just so funny.

I don't normally enjoy romance, but this novel is well-paced, heartfelt and quirky. Emma is a traveling nurse who grew up in the foster care system after being removed from her neglectful mother. She decides to travel to Minnesota with her best friend, Maddie, to meet up with a guy she meets online. Little does she know that he is also dealing with complicated family drama. The novel follows their relationship and personal growth.

WOW! Picking up this book I was expecting a lighthearted rom com but oh my goodness was I pleasantly surprised with this intense rollercoaster of emotions through a romance that had so many factors! This book encapsulates the real life struggles of beginning and maintaining a relationship within our own crazy, messed up personal lives. Every moment I was invested to see what would happen, and honestly didn’t know what turn was coming next. It was a struggle to put this one down. 10/10 recommend, but be prepared to laugh and to cry.
