i was so excited for this book because i thought it was such an interesting premise but like... how is this book 405 pages and yet it feels like nothing happened. Honestly at like 120 pages in I already knew this was going to be a tough one. It took me almost 4 months to read this book.
I liked the twist toward the end and found it absolutely devastating. Though I suppose if you remember the names of the characters in a previous book it isn't much of a twist (still not sure if its something I was supposed to know the entire time but I digress).
And I don't know maybe its just me but I'm not thrilled with the way this author portrays mental illness. Maybe its just because the mental illness that I've delt with and experienced isn't anything like what she explains her characters are feeling but it just feels wrong- like how someone who hasn't experienced mental illness thinks mental illness works. It got better as the book went on but often the metaphors felt idk- childish? The whole "getting small" felt like a metaphor an edgy teenager would use. The type of thing I would pin on my pinterest board "deep quotes" when I was in high school. Not the language of a 28-9 year old woman. But hey maybe thats just me.
Anyway in the end I just found the book kind of blah. If I didn't have a thing for never DNFing a book Ive bought than I probably would have DNFed it at the 120 page mark. But that's just me. It not that it was bad just... something I wasn't itching to keep reading you know? Like I never felt the need to keep reading until the final 100 pages or so and even then as the book came to a close I was just waiting for it to be over.
All this to say it wasn't a bad book and if you liked it I'm happy for you! Happy reading :)

My one criticism with this is the sheer amount of brands that are name-dropped; it kind of takes you out of the story.
