This book was my favorite of the 3 in this series and it had overall the best writing and plot. It has the wonderful mix of witty banter and more heavy trauma stuff.

I loved Emma, I really love and appreciate her perspective at first on her mom.
She gives her the benefit of the doubt and tries to use empathy until the very end.
It gave me a new perspective in dealing with
absent
moms which I can unfortunately relate to. I loved her character growth as well,
going from shrugging things off and saying she’s fine to realizing just how much of an impact her upbringing had on her and how she handles her relationships. I was so proud of her when she chose to put her mental health first before trying to be with Justin, especially with him having custody of his kid siblings.

Justin was everything I wished Atlas had been in Coleen Hoover’s It Starts With Us.
He showed anger and frustration with his mom and his situation and there were times where he lost his cool
which gave him more depth. I also loved how he approached dating Emma,
with sending out before and after surveys and going through the trouble and effort to make sure Emma had a good time.
He definitely sets a high standard for book boyfriends

The plot was well laid out, the dialogue was hilarious, the setting was perfect and I don’t feel like it dragged like in Jimenez’s previous stories. The minor characters were great and the ending was cute and hilarious. Happy for this to be my second 5 star read of 2025.

Wow! This book made me laugh, broke me down, built me back up, and had me sobbing happy tears at the end.
I did not expect to love this book as much as I did because I don't often read romance novels and I only read this one because it was my book club. I finished this book in 5 days, which isn't common for me. I was about 2/3 of the way through this book when I decided to sit on the front porch, enjoy the sunshine, and read.  I found that I couldn't stop reading and I finished it within an hour and just had so many emotions, both happy and sad.

This story has great humor and chemistry between the love interests. The dialogue and dates and just everything feels so organic and down to earth. I love the intricacies of their lives separate of each other, and how they had to reconcile it with what they wanted/expected out of life.

I really find no faults in this book and it will forever have a home on my shelves.

”The love stories sold us the wrong thing.
The best kind of love doesn't happen on moonlit walks and romantic vacations. It happens in between the folds of everyday life.
It's not grand gestures that show how you feel, it's all the little secret things you do to make her life better that you never tell her about. Taking the end piece of the bread at breakfast so she can have the last middle piece for her sandwich when you pack her lunch. Making sure her car always has gas so she never has to stop at the pump. Telling her you're not cold and to take your jacket when you are in fact, very, very cold. It's watching TV on a rainy Sunday while you're doing laundry and turning her light off when she's fallen asleep reading. Sharing pizza crusts and laughing about something the kids did and taking care of each other when you're sick.
It isn't glamorous, it isn't all butterflies and stars in your eyes. It's real.”

Loved this book.  It was funny, frustrating, exciting, and so many other things.   Justin is all green flags and you don't see that often. Made me want to send my wife date surveys!   All around loved it

A new all time top three book for me. Check your trigger warnings but definitely read it.
The audiobook was particularly well done and added another beautiful layer to the story.

The references to real life brands and companies tends to take me out of the story. It was good but not great. A tasteful closed-door story overall.
