Two people going through extreme life changes who are perfect for each other at the worst time.

I enjoyed trying to figure out if and when their moment would happen properly!

At first I really wasn’t convinced by this couple or this book and was mostly reading for the messiness that I knew was inevitable
specifically the messiness of Emma realizing she has a brother
but the growth of these characters was really beautiful to see especially in the last 30 or 40%. That really turned the book around for me and made this feel like an earned romance that I really believed in and was rooting for

I really don’t know how I feel about this book. I really like the idea of it and the basic plot outline is really interesting, but the way it is written annoys me. I just don’t like the way everything plays out and most of it was honestly pretty boring. Maybe that’s the point though? That they’re just boring people and boring people can have nice love stories too, but boring people living boring lives makes for a boring book.

Anyway, that is me being hateful. It is actually a sweet story and I really did enjoy the heavier issues, I thought they were fairly well written.

I may also just be a hater of contemporary romance, because I hate reading and seeing things like “AITA” and “unalive” and “snap”. It just ruins it for me.

Also they were way too in love way too fast. Justin was lowkey insane for all of that. And despite the fact that he contains the qualities that could make him a great book bf, I kind of hated him. I felt like he was pretty selfish towards Emma the whole book. He kept saying “meet me where I am” all because he wanted a girl he knew for a few weeks to give up her entire life to raise his siblings with him in Minnesota? And the way he spoke about her getting help in his last chapter really felt like he hated her. Like she had gone through such hell and he spent six months moping about how she should’ve stayed with him?? No, actually she shouldn’t have, she couldn’t have healed her trauma and PTSD while maintaining  a healthy relationship for the first time and raising three children. He just really angered me.

Pretty negative review, but it actually isn’t a bad book.

A fun, fast read. The dueling perspectives were fun to piece together. I loved the theme of friendship so strongly woven throughout the story. Really enjoyed this and looking forward to other reads by Abby Jimenez.

Genuinely loved this from start to finish. No notes, only tears and happiness.
