Read as a palate cleanser. In both good and bad ways, the book was completely predictable. This book doesn't reference social media much (as far as I can tell, just 2 reddit post), which I prefer.

Plot 3/5 - Generic romance story. Supposed to be a rom-com but had very little comedy. The conversations between the MMC and his friends did not seem like a conversation  men would have with each other, even amongst the "good" ones.

FMC 3/5 - I too, have attachment avoidant tendencies due to childhood trauma so I found myself relating to her more often than I would like. Glad she got help
but the progress she made in just 6 months of therapy seems unrealistic, especially with her case being so severe
.

MMC 3/5 - Mr. Perfect, like way too perfect. He lacks flaws and other than being tall, handsome, and funny, he lacks character.

“The best kind of love doesn’t happen on moonlit walks and romantic vacations. It happens in between the folds of everyday life. It’s not grand gestures that show how you feel, it’s all the little secret things you do to make her life better that you never tell her about. Taking the end piece of the bread at breakfast so she can have the last middle piece for her sandwich when you pack her lunch. Making sure her car always has gas so she never has to stop at the pump. Telling her you’re not cold and to take your jacket when you are in fact, very, very cold. It’s watching TV on a rainy Sunday while you’re doing laundry and turning her light off when she’s fallen asleep reading. Sharing pizza crusts and laughing about something the kids did and taking care of each other when you’re sick. It isn’t glamorous, it isn’t all butterflies and stars in your eyes. It’s real. This is the kind of love that forever is made of. Because if it’s this good when life is draining and mundane and hard, think of how wonderful it will be when the love songs are playing and the moon is out.

This was my first time reading anything by Abby Jimenez. My God! What a wonderful book!

I was hooked from the very first page. I love a dual POV.
Being able to see/feel from both Justin and Emma added so much depth to the story.

Justin gave me green flag vibes very early on. He was described as a good friend, good brother, good son and all around good human being. And as the story develops you see that he truly is all that. He is thoughtful and intentional in everything he does, he’s honest with who he is, where’s he’s at and what he’s feeling.

Emma gave me a “carefree” vibe. Travel nurse, loves adventure and meeting new places and people, I mean, that’s the dream right? Also a good friend and a good daughter. But as the story goes we see that there’s more to it than meets the eye and she might not be as carefree as I thought.

This book talks about PTSD, trauma, abandonment, adoption, foster care and a few other very important issues. But it also talks about trust, healing, self care, friendship and love.

Life can throw some curve balls, but if we’re surrounded by the right people we can make it through.

Sometimes family are not the ones you share blood with, but the ones you choose!

Abby Jimenez’s writing might have become one of my favorites! Can’t wait to read more from her!
