A fun international treasuring-hunting romp. I loved the idea of the heroes being a married couple - though I felt a lot more could have been mode of it. For the most part, they came across like buddies rather than husband and wife.
Anyway, plenty of good action and mystery.

Modern-day Indiana Jones mixed with The Da Vinci Code. The perfect blend of history, adventure, exotic locations, and action. No naughty bits and practically no cuss words, so I can listen to it at work without fear of someone overhearing something awkward. I am starting the next one immediately!
Nothing wrong with it but ran out of time. But, if it had really pulled me in, I wouldn’t have had trouble getting through.

The prolific writers like Patterson and Cussler often hire ghostwriters, such as Grant Blackwood to actually write their books. According to Blackwood, the ghostwriter gets the characters, the situation, and then is left to actually write the book. In this case, it's a huge fail.
This book is boring and poorly written. The characters are one-dimensional (to say the least) and the plot is humdrum to the point of my thinking I'd rather just be reading the Wikipedia entry myself instead of reading the author's paraphrasing of it.
Sam and Remi are an independently wealth couple, a la "Hart to Hart". They are philanthropists, donating millions to puppy dogs and orphans (get the picture?). They live in a 20,000 square foot house. They love adventure. They can overcome a well-trained, well-armed Russian Spetnaz special ops bad guy using just a rock and a rebar. Ah huh. Really. The writing is either one long run-on sentence, or lots of choppy declarative sentences. The action scenes are completely devoid of excitement. Lots of product placement though, mostly designer labels when describing Remi. In fact, in one scene very early on she has one well-described designer outfit on, then goes to change to a different designer outfit, also well described by label. Guess they had a contract to fit it all in.
This was the first Cussler novel I have read, and also the last!

Fun adventure book, though the luck of the Fargos is even more implausible than a Bond movie.
This is a new series by Clive Cussler and it was very typical of his Dirk Pitt series. Lots of action, fast paced and an easy read.
