Cosy crime at its finest!
I was thrilled when I learned that 'The Maid' was receiving a sequel, but my excitement was met with a mix of emotions upon finishing it. While this book maintained a super-fast pace and delivered a cozy reading experience, it fell short compared to previous work. Much of the plot feels recycled, with repetitive elements carrying over from the first installment.
Moreover, the sequel lacks the same level of mystery and intrigue that made the original captivating. The characters also failed to captivate as they did before.
In all honesty, after finishing this sequel, I find myself wishing there won't be a third book. 'The Maid' might have been better off left as a standalone novel, as this sequel didn't quite live up to the expectations set by the first installment.
QUOTES THAT I LIKE:
"Education is not something that happens exclusively in classrooms, that education is a state of mind."
"Never judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes."
"Shame is the scar the demons leave behind."
"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
'Maybe it's time I accept myself, because there's not a thing I can do to change it."
