I enjoyed The Castle for the first half of the novel before it became unbearably repetitive, monotonous, and confusing. I suppose that was the point of it though.

Furthermore, Kafka propelled me into the worst reading slump since I began reading as a hobby. It took me two months to finish a 300 page book. All that effort for something that ends mid-sentence.

Nach 15-20 Jahren wieder gelesen, festgestellt, wie sehr ich mich als Leserin und Mensch verändert habe. Ich erinnere mich, wie verstörend und anstrengend ich Ks Versuche ins Schloss oder überhaupt nur in die Nähe zu kommen fand. Wie unerträglich die Bürokratischen Hürden beim ersten Lesen erschienen. Und wie anstrengend ich es gefunden habe, das zu lesen. 
20 Jahre später kann ich das alles einfach so hinnehmen, ich find sogar vieles davon voller feinem humor und es ist ein so viel angenehmeres Leseerlebnis. 
Was ich mich aber schon frage, was für ein buch wäre das geworden, hätte kafka es beendet und editiert. So hört es mitten im Satz auf und mein Eindruck ist, man hätte schon einiges kürzen und zusammenstreichen können, er hat halt einfach so drauf hingeschrieben...
