I've read so many stories about the enormous courage, self sacrifice, and survival of the people of the Holocaust and WWII. This is a rediscovered story of remarkable courage of a hero who infiltrated the most notorious of the concentration camps. The story of Witold is important as it reveals new information about how Auschwitz came into being, and confronts how we respond to evil in our own time.

It’s a hard read hence the 3 1/2 months to truly embrace Witold’s story. The story is one of hope, fear, patriotism which ultimately makes you think why isn’t his story more prominent in Holocaust education?!

Approach with caution as this is one of the heaviest Holocaust related non- fiction work I’ve read
