What I thought was going to be a fluffy romcom turned into an angsty but beautiful story that I enjoyed so much. I love the fake dating trope but sometimes the reason for the fake dating can be borderline silly but not here! The trope was perfectly woven into the story and even though their relationship started out fake it felt so real. It was gritty and raw and a little ugly at times but that’s life! 10/10 no notes

<kind of spoiler> I literally had to hold back tears at the end. It pulled at all my heartstrings <kind of spoiler> some parts moved kind of slow while other moved fast but overall very well written and I really enjoyed it!

Overall I really enjoyed the plot of this book and I liked Grey and Ethan as characters. I'd have preferred less of an age gap (11 years) but that's just personal preference it didn't seem to detract from the story. Similarly I'd typically choose more of a slow burn over the more instant love portrayed in this book, the relationship seemed to progress a bit faster than my suspension of disbelief allowed.

Fake dating, celebrity romance, age gap, AND unexpected depth and emotion? Sign me up.

How to Fake it in Hollywood really wasn't what I expected. It continued to surprise me the further I read into the book. The beginning was cute, flirty, and filled with angst. The middle was romantic, steamy, and filled with conflict. The end? Well, I don't want to spoil anything, but it definitely sent me on an emotional rollercoaster.

If you have any difficulty reading about alcoholism, you will want to avoid this book.
It's a major theme and takes up a great deal of the story. I personally believe it's handled really well. There's nothing fluffy about it. There's a lot of depth and discussion that I haven't seen in many other books that handle the topic of addiction. I appreciated it a lot.

All of the characters have struggles, but they're ones you'll want to root for. Even the secondary characters are wonderful. If the author decides to write companion novels, you can be sure I'll be reading them!
