I wished it was more memoir and less summing things up. A lot of it felt like she was trying to convince her detractors/trolls of her world view, but as someone who is already Team Lindy's pov it felt dumbed down and over explain-y. I feel like most readers of this book would already be a fan and could have done without so many summations and more substance.

3.5 (minus 0.5 star bc her humor didn’t land for me)
this healed my 11 year old self that spent hours in 2016 consuming anti-sjw content. she covers a lot of the feminist talking points about trolls that “men who hate women” does but in a really candid and conversational way, and i wish younger me could read it

I really liked this book and am so glad I picked it up as a way to celebrate Women’s History Month this March. [This isn’t the only book I’ve chosen for Women’s History Month.] I’ve heard of Lindy West as her books have been recommended to me for a quite a few years. I didn’t feel a strong pull to her books at the time but with all that’s happened around Women’s Rights these couple years I felt now might be a good time to try Mrs. West’s books out.

This book was transparent about her experiences in her personal and professional life that I thought was a great balance of emotional and unflinching truths. I can definitely see how this book might make certain people upset since Lindy West has certain view points others might not agree with. Personally, I agreed with all of them and really liked this book. Her writing style is great. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook as she narrates it herself. Will be reading the rest of her books later on in my life.

Lindy West is hilarious and inspiring. She can make fun but doesn’t tolerate hurtful or hateful comments. She is wise and delightful. Reading this book felt like having a conversation with your favorite aunt. Loved it.

Appreciate Lindy West's unique voice even though I had already heard her stories about Dan Savage fat shaming and confronting her meanest troll.

I was trying to savor this, but tore through the latter half today. She writes eloquently about what it means to be a fat woman in the public eye. I've followed her for years, so I was already familiar with some of the content.
