My daughter enjoyed following along as I read and loved looking at the book on her own later on. Cute illustrations that she enjoyed using to tell herself the story.

I was expecting a repeat of Brown Bear, Panda Bear, Polar Bear, and Baby Bear. I was very impressed with this new addition. While the title suggests it is the same, it is a totally new book. Very good for story time.

Kitty cat is reluctant to get our of bed and start her day. Sweet rhymes made up with Mama cat prodding her progress and Kitty cat's delaying response makes for a very fun read with children. This would be very cute as a storytime book and a one-on-one. Many repeated phrases will make it fun for children to participate.

This book was pretty middle of the road for me. Not a bad one, but nothing really stand-out amazing. If I needed another book for a bedtime-themed storytime I would use it, but it wouldn't be among my first batch of choices.

Perfect for my Mommy & Me group - the rhyming words allow children to fill in the word, which is great practice. Definitely using again.

Now that Harriet can read she is taking a more active role in choosing her library books. She is returning to old favorite authors, like Bill Martin Jr. A recent find of his is Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, Are You Waking Up?

This book explores the morning routine of a young kitten as he gets ready for school. Parents and school aged children will recognize the speed bumps in the routine: it's hard to get up, it's hard to pick out the right outfit, food is more fun to play with than eat, and so forth.

Bill Martin Jr. has a knack with rhythms and making a short list of easy to read words fun to read. His poetry is also memorable. The combination of phonetically easy words and memorable lines made for a hit with Harriet. She read the book about a dozen times before we had to return it to the library. Weeks later she is still quoting from it.

Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, Are You Going to Sleep? by Bill Martin Jr. is the sequel to Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, Are You Waking Up?. Now it's bed time and the little kitty isn't sure he's ready yet.

Using the easy and addictive rhymes Martin is known for, this book is both easy to read and soothing to listen to. Slowly but surely Mama cat eases her little one into bed, giving him one last chance to do all those things.
