Messy and fun, yet the real world events the book is surrounded by are haunting to say the least. Moreno-Garcia always writes fantastic characters, filled with imperfections.

Loved the idea, but I couldn’t connect with the characters to the point I cared about them so I basically read the story because I’m a chismosa, but I have to say it was way better I expected it to be, so I’ll give it that. Interesting time and historical accuracy made me actually finish it. I’d rate it a lot more if her characters had any development, 3.5 stars

Entertaining noir thriller on Mexico’s dirty war. Didn’t love the romance element.
