It’s been a while since I read 1984, so I didn’t find myself comparing too much to the original. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this, although I’m still not too sure what to make of the ending…

Surely, it was all too good (/weird & coincidental) to be true?!

Cool twists on the original plot and liked the human connections and stuff. Julia's childhood was really interesting too. Didn't really love the ending though

Just because it has a female lead doesn't mean it's a feminist book. It's not a bad book but it's definitely not what it was made out to be from word of mouth. Additionally it's darker and more graphic than I remember 1984 being.
