I went into this with Sarah Gailey's Magic for Liars heavy on my mind, but this is such a different magic system/school. I was about to get annoyed that Walden wasn't catching on to the one character and then the end came and was just marvelous.

One of my first five star reads of the year, this was a fantastic book! There’s romance, but that’s not the focal point, and there’s mystery, but that’s also not the focus. It’s kind of a coming of age novel for a 38-year old main character through looking back at her childhood/young adulthood trauma. And the self growth!! Loved that it was an ‘older’ FMC.
