A heartfelt tale exploring grief and hope.

I loved the first book in the series, but honestly this one managed to blow it out of the water. One of my favorite aspects is how Carter explores loss through the lens of fantasy. There's a lot of joy and wonder in this book, but there are equal amounts of grief and loss, and it's handled with the utmost tenderness and care. I really enjoyed getting to know Alice in this book, and though some of her journal entries were hard to read, it really lended so much depth to the story and Tina's journey. There's so much to love about this series, and with that cliff hinger of an ending, you bet I am ready to preorder book three as soon as it goes live!!
