This is a beautiful yet terrifying collection of short stories about relationships and families. Don’t let that put you off. It is bleak but brilliant and written in a sparing style which makes it all the more haunting. It’s not heartwarming , it’s desperately sad. But go and read it and I will go and read everything else Tove Ditlevsen wrote.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. All views are my own.

she never misses!

Some people never fully escape the loneliness and emotional poverty of their childhoods. Tove Ditlevsen was one of those people. Even in her determination to be a published writer, whatever personal pains it took, the freedom she sought was hers, in a way, but the alienation and awkwardness stuck to her. Humor in these stories, but in the saddest way. Poor Tove. Kudos to Tove for turning the sad shit in life into great writing
