I’m a big fan of these love letters to other great works of literature - in this case The Phantom of the Opera. The story completely works independently but the callbacks are genius.
Also, yet again the witches forcing the residents of the Disc into morality, we love to see it

Read too long ago to accurately rate, but know I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Pratchett once again demonstrates how Granny Weatherwax is his ideal and best character for exploring the flaws of humanity and the nature of the world.
This book was amazing. On this repeat read it was interesting to look for hints at who the 2 versions of the Ghost were - and they were definitely there.
Agnes is set up as a good future character in the Witches books with her alter ego of Perdita hinted at.
Greebo’s transformation remains an amusing plot point and Nanny Ogg does well as the comic relief to Granny Weatherwax’s somewhat darker side.

Somewhere along the hub of the Disc, Terry Pratchett decided he could have some fun making pastiches of well known stories. It's rather obvious that Maskerade takes a lot of inspiration from The Phantom Of The Opera, but he throws enough Pratchett-esque twists in that it doesn't spoil the plot for those of us familiar with the original story. And, of course, there are Witches.
