I love Kasie West but this book was pretty juvenile. I didn’t like Sophie at all. Andrew deserved better tbh. The audiobook narrator did an awful country accent for Micah too.

My rating: 3 out 5 stars
I have really enjoyed almost all of the Kasie West books I have read. I usually give them 4 or 5 star read. This is the second book by her that I'm, sadly, giving a 3 star rating (The other one was Listen to Your Heart).

The main reason why I didn't enjoy those Kasie West book as much is because of the characters. Honestly, the main three characters got on my nerves. Sophie, Micah, and Andrew seemed to be perpetually fighting, often times over petty things. Now, I LOVE witty and sarcastic banter, but only when it's humorous and not truly mean. Most of the time the banter between them was on the more mean side (ie, making fun of things they knew the other person was really sensitive about or trying to pry into things when the other person clearly didn't want to talk about it). I wish that there had been more moments where they were just having fun together, without constant sarcasm.

I will say, though, that there was some character growth by the end of the story. Sophie, Andrew, and Micah eventually realized that they needed to own up to their misstakes and to deal with the traumas in their life. Though they still have some issues (like we all do) by The end of the book, they do seem to be a bit more mature than they were at the beginning.

The other thing I didn't love about this book was that it was a little more dark than I was expecting. I would categorize Kasie West's books as very light contemporary romance. This book is more serious, as it focuses on issues like parental abandoment and emotional abuse. For that reason, this book has a more realistic feel. While I'm totally for authors addressing tough topics such as the ones addressed in this book, it's not what I expect, or tbh want, when I pick up a Kasie West book.I go to her books when I'm in the mood for a cute and funny romance.
I will say that is just a personal preference. I realize that others may have liked this book because it actually does deal with series topics, which I totally understand and respect.

I want to end this review on a positive note. There were several things that I liked about this book. I loved that this book took place over the course of nearly a year and focused on different holidays\ events during that time. I wish that I could visit the town this book is set in! All the community events sound super fun!!!

Another thing I liked about this book was that it was not an Insta- love story. Sophie and Andrew spend time getting to know each other over the course off many months before they get involved romantically. This is a kinda rare accurance in YA books, so I found their romance to be refreshing.

Though I was kinda disappointed in this book, I will continue to read more of Kasie West's books in the future!!!

This was very cute. A simple morning read since I woke up so early today. I don't think it stands out as much as it could have, but it was enjoyable enough to read in one sitting. Maybe NEXT time I'll pick up another Kasie West book when I have a few hours to spare.

Byla to hezká knížka, ale taková povrchová, chybělo mi tam více akce a reakce mezi Sophie a Andrewem, nebo možná bych toho potřebovala víc? To je možné.

Cute book. I liked the idea of how the story was told by events, but I don't know if I truly liked it. It was a neat idea, but I found myself wishing I new more about what happened in between. All the reader gets are snippets of their lives, and I wanted a little bit more. I also wished there was a little more tension. Snarky, hostile flirting is my absolute favorite!

Felt a little bit too dramatic for me and would have loved an epilogue set in New York, but overall very cute

This is by far my favourite Kasie West book, and deserves to stand out from all my other 3's and 4's for her books with a solid 5. I absolutely devoured this one and it ticked all the right boxes for me
