the first book is without a doubt the best in the series. this one the first half was just so so boring, though i did like the second half! and the end was good!
but a lot of things just came out of nowhere?
for just this book-
Spoiler ned and jin lo's romance! it was so all of the sudden, like when they got married i was like ??? they have no chemistry???? though they were nice at the end, it just seemed like there was no romance and then all of the sudden there was

Spoiler janie's telekinesis! absolutely bizzare. ive got no clue how it works or why she can sometimes do it and sometimes can't, it's just like "she concentrated harder" and boom it works! i don't like that! it isn't as fun as the other magic in the series that works through potions etc

and this is really about the whole series but I'm mad about pip's development too just because it was so strange? he feels like a different guy now and the only explanation is that he cleaned up his act for sarah pennington in book 1 and now he's a hotshot actor. ok but we don't see the change! book 2 and 3 pip could be a different man!

This is the ending I was desperately hoping for. The second installment in this series left me feeling really bummed and not as enthusiastic about the character’s lives. Even with the beginning of this story it had me considering abandoning the book altogether. However, I hung in there and I’m glad I did! It had highs and lows and suspense in all the right places. Janie, Benjamin and Pip are such well developed characters! I wish they’d make this series into movies!!!

Part of me wants to give this book all the stars because these are characters I've come to love, but the other part of me understands that there is a lot happening in this book, maybe a little too much, and it all feels quite muddled and a little too easy of an ending even if the route there was quite crowded. I still like this series. I think it will appeal to a certain type of reader, but when it finds the right reader, they'll have quite a grand adventure.

This was an amazing conclusion of this trilogy. I can't say I liked it as much as I liked the first or second books but it was still really good. All of the characters are just so loveable and the suspense kept me reading every page <3

It’s been a while since I read this series, and I really hadn’t given it a thought since I read book two in 2013. Still, when it popped up on the audio review list, I thought eh why not?

The After-Room, like the rest of the series, is a pleasant read, but it’s not one that really stands out in any particular way. I like elements of the story and characters, but also any time I try to sit down and think about the strengths of this book I’m left without much of anything to say. The plot’s a bit convoluted, the magic herein contained so easy and convenient that it really loses the cool factor. I mean, Janie hears that telekinesis is possible and teaches it to herself no problem. It’s not even a huge plot thing; it mostly just happens.

However, the audiobook was truly fantastic. The narrator, Cristin Milioti, does a great job with all of the voices and accents. Even though I wasn’t absorbed by the plot of the book itself, I sped through the audiobook because she was so good at the storytelling.

I am so OBSESSED with this series. Every book is better than the last! My only complaint is the fact that Pip didn't shown up till late in the book but that aside I loved it. Ned is my love and Jin Lo is perfection. Nuff said.

By far my favorite of the three books, it was so good and tied everything up perfectly.
Just how far everyone has come over the past three books is unbelievable and the way the story came together in the end was wonderful.
I’m going to miss this series majorly, but am so proud of the characters that I’m almost not upset about having to say goodbye.
It just left a really good feeling with me and I’m really happy now.
5/5 stars.
