DNF-ed at page 150. Really didn't enjoy this book, had high expectations considering it was highly recommended.
Too many characters resulting in me spending way too long trying to remember who was who. The plot seemed to revolve around the s*x lives of the characters, who lacked maturity as a bunch of 21 year olds. The book is sort of similar to binding 13, but characters lacked depth, and the relationships seemed superficial. There wasn't much of a connection, I felt, between characters.
I've given 2 stars because there's potential and *some* scenes were enjoyable. (2 stars is generous. i may change my mind in the future.) I really wish I hadn't read this book and wasted £5.

I needed a contemporary to break up all of the fantasy I've been reading, and this was the perfect pick. I loved the characters. The plot kept me entertained, and it was a nice balance of fun and drama. Definitely recommend.
Do not read this book. It simply is not good. Its not a compelling romance story, its not a compelling sports story, its hardly even a compelling porno. Icebreakers is the story of an incredibly boring and bland man that the author spends 400 pages trying to convince us is the man of our dreams. The male lead, Nathan is controlling and bad at communicating but overall is a non-character. The female lead, Anastasia is a better character but her only real depth is that she has anxiety and is way too willing to forgive people. The “antagonist” is Aaron, a person so similar to Nathan that I really thought they were going to do something with it. I hoped against hope for a twist at the end when Anastasia realizes that both Nathan and Aaron have lied to her and are both jealous of her relationships with other men, but instead they just end up happy together.
Hockey and Figure Skating, despite being the lifelong passions of our main characters, exist only as activities them to occasionally participate in. Neither hockey nor skating play any role in the character “arcs” of Nate and Stas. Nate has no arc while Stassie, who goes from a shitty working relationship with Aaron to a shitty romantic relationship with Nate, swaps from skating doubles to singles in the last couple pages of what is an incredibly drawn out book despite almost nothing happening.
My main concern with Icebreakers as a smut book is that the characters have way too much drunk sex for me to be comfortable. At one point Nate states that he takes consent very seriously, despite the fact that he is about to give head to a person that we know from the previous chapter is drunk enough for her judgement to be clouded. While he might not know that, the reader definitely does, which makes the inclusion of that line by the author seem like a purposeful joke. At another point, the characters decide not to have sex because one of them is clearly intoxicated, despite the fact that they have had drunk sex the two previous times they have been together, as if “drunk people can not consent” no longer applies when both have been drinking. There is lots of other uncomfortable sex stuff, like Nate fingering Stas in the back of an Uber despite all their friends knowing what they are doing, and Nates SIXTEEN YEAR OLD sister walking in on them having sex on the kitchen counter (eww).
The book was incredibly graphic in its sex scenes, but also very repetitive in it descriptions, primarily because they have so much sex. A fun drinking game for this book would be to take a shot anytime any of the following happens: They shower together, Stas mentions a “wet spot in her panties” or being “soaking wet,” or anytime Stas comments on how big Nate’s penis is. Every single sex scene reads exactly the same and I hate it.

I love a good Sportsmance. This one was a bit longer than the usual but I liked that it had some substance to it.
