I can't think of any better word to describe this than "alive". It just roared off the page at me. Short enough to grip me, long enough to really drive its points home. Wonderfully written, with such feeling, I couldn't help but share that anger, delirium, strangeness, sisterhood, comfort, cold, fear, hope... Loved it.

A harrowing novella. I started it this morning and read it all in one setting. Much of the themes are extremely applicable to modern times and my heart ached for Geillis the entire time and though the story left me sad I am glad to have known more of her story, though it’s haunting to think of how many women this story could directly apply to.
