It wasn’t bad, just kind of slow. Very slow burn. And the end left me feeling unsatisfied. It was intriguing, but I think I only finished it because I was stubborn.

Like many others, Bitter Orange made it into my TBR based solely on the cover.
Also like many others, it didn't grab me right away.
This book is an incredibly atmospheric, slow-burn style of novel. You start out knowing something happened, and you're just trying to figure out how, and when, things go sideways. The writing made it easy to envision the lush and beautiful countryside in which the story unfolds, and the relationships between the characters are just precarious enough to keep you on your toes.
Once you get into it - this book is impossible to put down. I devoured the last half of the story, and loved every bit of it. If you're looking for a novel to get completely swept up in - you've found it.

The synopsis sounded awesome, but the book itself was slow, hard to follow, and I didn’t like the characters. I’m not sure what happened or how it happened, but I did not enjoy the book until the end when the crime took place, but even that wasn’t as dramatic as I felt it could’ve been.
