Just another straight white man's self-insert OC fucking around without a plot for over 500 pages. Boring, plotless, meaningless. The main character Alwyn is not nearly as cool or smart as the author thinks he is. None of the other characters are likeable, much less loveable. The conflicts of the story have nothing to do with the protagonist, nor were they interesting on their own merit. 

It was well written, with interesting battle tactics and a world that reminded me of Game of Thrones. But God I was so infuriated by the end I skimmed the last 20 pages and missed nothing of interest.
