People that don't believe in the concept of humans being inherently evil aren't going to like or appreciate this book.

We are seeing the problem of evil and the break down of "society" when reason and morality is abandoned. This is being highlighted during the WW2 era, when great atrocities were occurring.

While intense, this book does a phenomenal job discussing these themes.

I never read this book as a teenager and read it for the first time as an adult. I imagine your perception of this book could be very different if you had to tackle these concepts as a teenager initially.

The books is so very descriptive that it feels like watching a movie. This gets often reccomended as a book to read in high school and I can see why. Its a pretty accurate depiction of what would happen if children, or even adults, trapped on an island would eventually become and eventually come to do.
The point of the book, i think, is to show the society that is created at the start, founded on the good sense and civilization reached with the time spent in Britain, that without a solid foundation eventually shatters and the kids become savages, led by their instincts, without good sense to do whats rational, that is symbolised by keeping the fire up.
One of the best books I've read
