Scottish Sex God ✅

Loved the vibes of the novella. I felt like it sat in the perfect range of light, easy read, but still gave you enough information to get to know the characters some.

Ok so this COULD HAVE BEEN 5.
For real.
The characters and world building, the dark gothic(?) themes and the Samhain, druids etc is sooooo dark and cool. I loved it.
I loved the fmc as well, the love interest too and the story.

BUT ☝️

Whoooooooooooooooooo green lighted this as a godsdamned NOVELLA?
This should have been a full length novel. Period. Point blank.
The world building was so interesting and the story as well, but it was literally TOO short. And not in a “omg I need more”, although some of that. But no.
Literally, structurally, too short.
It became compressed, forced and jumbled. No breather anywhere.
The plot, the characters, and the scenes felt rushed, crammed, jammed, packed like little fish in tins.
Also made their love so insta it made me roll my eyes more times than I can count.

Secondly.
What kind of editor or agent (dunno if this is self) was okay with WRITING OUT THE SCOTTISH ACCENT?
That was an actual crime.
Any beta reader, editor or agent should have leashed the author and told her to change this or it won’t be published. And if none of them told her- they hate you. They did it to see you fail, Jenny.
It was so hard to read, it was barely legible at some points and it forced me to re-read so many of his dialogues.
It should’ve been mentioned as a description and then the rest of the dialogue written clearly. Because that was absolute torture for no reason.

DESPITE those two major- nay- COLOSSAL mistakes in the process, it was still soooooo good.
If this had just been a full length novel and the Scottish accent taken out, I truly believe it would have been a 5.
Dare I say it would have been a bestseller and TikTok trendy?
Why why why why wasn’t this a full length novel?
I can only think that the publisher was trying to spare us from having to endure the torture of the written Scottish accent for an extended period of time.
So… thanks?

Okay, this was actually a lot of fun to read! The two main characters are so well suited to each other on many levels, (although admittedly I'm a sucker for a monster x monster situation) and seeing them get under on another's tough exterior was delightful. Their witty banter was one of the best parts of the story.
The two main downsides for personally were the whole scene where there's a whole moment of "I wOn'T bE aBlE tO sToP mYsElF!!" which is a cringy trope that I find a little problematic, as well as the epilogue being one of those cozy little domestic "holiday" scenes. It just felt quite jarring slapping that epilogue on, especially after that final chapter.
But still, overall, lots of fun, and I actually enjoyed it much more than I anticipated.

It’s a solid little novella! I loved the characters; they’re fantastical and interesting. I just felt like I was missing bits and pieces of the story, but I think that’s because of the length. It felt like there was a lot I missed because I’m not familiar with pagan gods and goddesses and associated stories.

This was a fun read. I liked seeing how the Greek and Celtic mythologies mix together. It makes the world feel more connected and it doesn't have to just be one lot of myths only could be in the world at once.

I also really enjoyed Sthero and Gregor's relationship. It is not sweet or cute but they made me smile and enjoy them in their strange way. I really wanted more after I finished. I could have happily read a book about the sisters, who knows maybe we will get something in the future.

I really enjoyed this book I think these short smutty romances are really the sweet spots for me. This book was between a gorgon and a Druid both considered monstrous creature who find beauty and respect in each other.

There is some grey area concerning consent a few times that includes an aphrodisiac drug. I am sensitive to that content but it didn’t bother me too much in this book. There was also the threat of an innocent woman being SAed but she is rescued before that occurs.

Those things as well as the whirlwind romance, it takes place in like a few days made me want to drop it a star point.

However, I still really liked it. Both characters were strong and ruthless and powerful and used that with each other to compliment each other. There was an interesting variation in the explicit scenes. Also in such a short book I felt like there was a ton of world building and would love to read more from this author in the future.
