I felt the plot was slightly predictable, as in I guessed the ending but it took a scenic route to get there, but I enjoyed the journey. In places, it felt very rushed with a lot almost too much going on with some significan parts being brushed over. If some parts were emore detailed and others cut, i feel like the story would have flowed better and be more satisfying. The development of the characters was interesting, especially learning more about their backstories and history, but some of their motivations seem... odd or slightly forced to drive the plot, and characters, in a specific direction.

truly just far too long.

i really didnt like end ending of this book. the mom-ification of every strong female character has gotten stale

Well, that hurt. I haven’t cried that much reading a book in a while😭 I couldn’t put it down. It was like watching a movie. So many plot twists that had me absolutely flying through pages. I was either crying, gasping, or grinning.
The scene with Mak had me sobbing.😭 And then the scene with Kitt.😭
Ugh, the brother relationship between Kitt and Kai was one of my favorite parts of this series and that ending hurt.🥺 Goodness, this book was an emotional rollercoaster🫠 But such a bittersweet ending to Paedyn and Kai’s story!

There were things I wasn’t a fan of in this book and series. I wasn’t a fan of some of the decisions the characters made and some of the content. This author definitely knows how to write gripping books though!

Content notes: Frequent language and fade to black scene.

I thought this was the strongest book of the series for the trilogy. This is a sad read with a happy ending but I wish some other side characters got a little more acknowledgment in the final character chapter. Spoilers about major character and story information:
I was so sad that Mak and Kitt died in this story. I thought they were such great characters and was disappointed to see their ends, especially since it seemed rushed. I wish we had more of Kitt’s POV during this book rather than his dad’s, I could care less about that character’s inner thoughts. The twist of her lineage was pretty predictable.
I think that Lauren Roberta writes very strong characters and write anguish extremely well. I would read more from her in the future.

This book was good but I has higher expectations

Makoto killing himself pained me knaoing tjis is what he wanted. He wanted to mill Paedyn, but he wanted to be wuth Adena more.

Kitt dying wasnt that sad to me, it was Kais greif. It pains me to see how mad he went in those letters over time.

How Kai knew it wasnt Paedyn on that ship from her freckles alone? UGH..
