So irritating that nobody believes her and perceives her as a crazy grieving mother with a messed up brain, when all the evidence is right there in front of them and until something happens to them, they won’t give her the time of day. If I could punch just about every character in this book I would!
Still like a 3.5-3.75 just for the ending, almost “satisfying” in a way. (Can’t give quite a 4, got too slow and little boring /repetitive at times)

Wow, finished this book in less than a day. It’s a fairly simple story with just one point of view, but the author still keeps you hooked the entire time. It’s definitely a bit disturbing and probably not a great read for new parents.

“Chile.” That’s the word I uttered when I finished this. This was tough. I wanted to slap Blythe, but I wanted to kill the husband. He was utterly useless. That wasn’t surprising; he’s a man after all. I was more surprised about Blythe’s…delusional nature? I don’t know, but I wanted more from her. She wasn’t very good about ringing any alarms. I did enjoy it though!

I didn’t expect this book to be as scary as it was. I honestly was afraid of a 4 year old

This reminded me slightly of We Need to Talk About Kevin. Definitely haunting and dark, and I couldn’t put it down.

So good, finished it in 2 sittings. Tense, calculated, and dark -- the perfect thriller.

Wow!!! The last 10 minutes!!!
This book took a nice, slow, winding path. It kept me questioning. And then the ending punched me in the gut!

This is a slow burn that leaves you questioning everything. Be warned, once you pick up this book, you will be unwilling to put it down again.
Blythe is struggling with motherhood and guilt as she is unable to connect with her daughter. I mourned for Blythe and felt heartbreak for her trials.
Audrain's work with character development is nothing I've seen before. We are left guessing after the true villain is and if our POV is even reliable. This is a true psychological thriller.
