Is dit het beste boek dat de auteur ooit geschreven heeft? Waarschijnlijk niet. Heb ik me ongelooflijk vermaakt, meermaals hardop gelachen en vloog ik er doorheen? Ja. Het idee is echt heel tof en op een hele leuke manier uitgewerkt. Voor de echte fantasy lezer is de wereldbouw waarschijnlijk veel te zwak, voor de science-fiction lezer is de wetenschap waarschijnlijk net niet goed genoeg uitgewerkt. Maar voor de casual liefhebber van beide genres is dit boek perfect. Luchtig, grappig en niet te moeilijk!

Solid fantasy adventure. Predictable character development, a love interest readers can spot from the moment the character appears, and blow-by-blow descriptions of fistfights. 

The interpolations of the “Frugal Wizard’s Guide” and the biography of the entrepreneur who turned the nature of the universe into his cash cow, were intended to be amusing and roguishly lighthearted, while pointing at darker matters (like the chapter titled, “Wait, Did I Just Do a Colonialism?”)
