I have to write SOMETHING. My mind is so much moosh, like there is nothing there, but I finished this book DAYS ago. So something is what I shall write.
I liked this book. A lot. It was fun, like really fun. A common daydream of mine is time travel and how I would interact with the people and the things I know and the technology I had. This book easily fed all that.
And he did a good job having bits and pieces come back, showing who he really was before he remembered how pathetic he was.
I was so mad at his friend, and agreed with what’s his name, the village leader guy, that he sure didn’t act like his friend. And then when he found his girlfriend again and that they had been cheating on him, yeah I wanted him to wash his hands of his old life too.
I did think the romance went a tad too fast. I know it had to happen in a short book, but the pacing was off. Still, it made me happy that they ended up together. The last part where they were doing their puppet show made me smile, like he was getting his happy ending.
Over all good book, would recommend it to people. A solid four stars.

Another wonderful book by Brandon Sanderson! This is only the second of his that I’ve read, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. There was something in the beginning that kept me from being totally hooked on it, but I’m not sure what exactly. As the story picked up, though, I became very immersed in the mystery and the motivations. The illustrations were beautiful and humorous, and the inserts from the actual handbook were so creative and hilarious.

This mix of sci-fi, fantasy, humor, and general awesomeness is exactly the kind of content I'm looking for. With the title I was expecting a little more humor than there was, but that is a minor nitpick for what really delivered a great ride.
A simple, yet incredibly fun story in a genre and style that Sanderson doesn’t often write in. Many of the asides in the book made me truly laugh out loud, especially for the boys about the bananas (trust me, the book is worth reading for these jokes alone)
This book is definitely worth a read for anyone, especially as it’s not connected to the Cosmere. All in all I really enjoyed it, as evidenced by the fact that I finished the novel in an entire day and chose to stay up reading it and get 5 1/2 hours of sleep tonight.

The more I read, the more I liked this! It was a very fun romp in the beginning and by the end I found myself connected to the characters a lot more than I realized. Reading from the gorgeous premium edition of the book for the first half was probably part of it as well as all the little details added up to a really immersive experience.
I can see why this isn't everyone's favorite, but I had a really good time with it!
