read this when i found out that the episode of the haunting of bly manor focusing on viola and perdita was based on this short story. there were quite a few changes in this story and it also fleshed out and is better at clearly stating the intentions and reasoning behind the actions of the characters, but i still think the episode did it justice keeping in mind the limited runtime that it had
