It took me a while to get engaged in the story but this might have more to do with my reading mood right now than the story itself. The magical sack horse is what piqued my interest but it was the romance that made me stay with the book because Fenn and Morgrim are so awkward and sweet that it made me want to scoop them up and put them in my pocket for safekeeping! They are so adorable and their romance was a delightful mix of vulnerability and tender moments mixed with some light BDSM in the bedroom and it was a great combination!

A great start as Fenn wakes with a big hangover not knowing where he was. What happens next was definitely a big touch of magic for a cloth horse to be real. The horse sure could lead him astray right to a grumpy magician named Morgrim, a tottally fitting name.
Scenes play out and the two get to know each other just maybe they needed each other and fate stepped in or something did.
Hot dom & submissive sexy scenes included which was gorgeous but Morgrim still keeps his secrets. There's danger with attacks to towers and Morgrim knows who's targeting him.
I really enjoyed this first time read for this author with something different to read. While I liked the story and its characters I could connect to them. The descriptions throughout the story was beautifully written.

Fenn was 46 and had nothing except a huge hangover. Looking for work but all he gets for it was a bunch of old cloth as a joke.

I enjoyed this one!

Main character was relatable and I liked him, whichis rare for me. I would have liked more about the magic system, maybe a sequel ?

Unfortunate title - it’s really about horses and finding a home :)

Simply lovely and surprising in its details!

This is an audio review.

I’ve said it before but I listen differently than I read. Especially if the narrator is good. I adore Joel and other than some missed edits, it was fantastic as always. I’m not sure I would have enjoyed it as much reading it though.

The world building in this is really really well done and unique. I enjoyed the characters and the general story progression. This is a new to me author, so I don’t know if this is a series, but based on the open ended plot points I’m assuming this series will continue. I hope it does as it was a ton of fun and one of the only things I could focus on the past couple weeks.
