Pěkná kniha, a i když jsem čekala trochu víc toho "boje" o přežití, nakonec si mě postavy získaly a děj vtáhl. Snad trochu více než o přežití, je tato kniha nakonec o životních ztrátách, nadějích, lásce a hlavně poznání - sebe i druhých.

I read an advanced copy and I really loved it! Kay Bratt did it again with bringing me outside my normal genre of books. First with Wish Me Home now with Dancing With the Sun. I took my time reading this book because I didn't want it to end. The story is about a mother and daughters relationship and how far a mother would go for her child to keep them safe.  Sadie, the mother, had a hard time letting go of this pain she felt every day for years. The pain she felt caused a wall to be built so she couldn't fully enjoy the joys and happiness with her husband and daughter.  There was something that always held her back. When Sadie went to visit her daughter they were faced with difficulties that made Sadie slowly drop that wall and be there completely for her daughter. The story made me think of my two boys and the great lengths I would also go through to save and do whatever I have to for them. Don't take things for granted even the smallest of things. You never know when it'll be the last time. Thank you Kay for writing this book. I think this book will touch a lot of hearts.

What a wonderful book about the relationship between a daughter and a mother!! I'm so grateful for the opportunity to read this book about healing of a fractured relationship between a mother a daughter as well as husband and wife.

Dancing with the Sun had me on the edge of my seat wit the action....when I wasn't being moved by the touching struggle of a mother trying to become her own person again.
This was a book that I walked around with my nose in and ended up reading in one day! I was just bewitched by the story!
What a gift Kay Bratt has, to pull you into her story and bring your emotions to so many levels!
The writing is stellar, plot over the top and characters full and rich.
A must read! An absolute 5 stars rating!I

Thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

Kay Bratt has written another amazing book with Dancing With the Sun. It brings out all the feels - sadness, anxiety, hope, relief. This novel is a real page turner - I read it in one sitting. It was so easy for me to picture myself lost in the wilds of Yosemite. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

2.5 stars. This is one of those books that you know other people will love. Other people who like Hallmark movies and uplifting/heartfelt novels. To me, it felt a little preachy, and while I labeled this "realistic" on my personal shelves, because I know that it its intent, it didn't feel real. Too many "really?" moments where I'd find myself making a face or shaking my head.

So much of this was IN Sadie's head. Her thoughts and memories and introspection. Her feeling sorry for herself one moment, then "I will carry my daughter on my back even though I can barely walk myself because that's what a mother does" the next.

It bugged me a bit how vague "the tragedy" was. It's just delved out in such small, pieces throughout. We pickup that she had a son. That "something" happened. Little tiny clues - I figured it was a drowning. Really, it isn't until the very end that we are really told. It just felt like the author was playing a game to keep me guessing, when there really wasn't a point to that.

I've really enjoyed "survival" stories in the past. My boys and I loved "Hatchet" and the series ... this was a little harder to get into. Not that it couldn't happen, I know people do get lost and die on populated trails. I think I was just frustrated a little with the characters for their lack of preparation (I mean we know because of the summary of the book what is going to happen, so the foreshadowing seems so blatant, and it's hard not to be judgemental).

and spoiler ...
Spoilerit all works out. They are saved. Sadie and Tom reconnect. Sadie has bonded with her daughter again. The world is wonderful. The end.
It wasn't hard to predict that very early on. This book couldn't end any other way.

The narrator matched the tone of the book - a "I'm going to tell you a heartfelt story that will uplift you and heal your wounds" type of a thing. Again, those who love the book will likely love this storyteller. She was good, it was more the content combined with the voice that grated a bit.

I always feel bad leaving a less than stellar review, I know the author had put their whole heart into their story. I guess I'm just too jaded to appreciate it.

Dancing with tears. Wow. This was my first book from this author, who I honestly picked up mostly based on the strength of the other books from her publisher (Lake Union). And yet again, yet another of their authors shows just how good the books they put out are. The book itself is laced with sorrow with a genuine amount of fear of survival once the main plot kicks in, and both the revelations about the past and the perils of the present are well paced. The sense of sorrow never really leaves, even at the end, but it does indeed have a fitting happy ending. I've definitely found a new author to get caught up on.

Good book that tells about a mother and daughter getting lost in Yosemite. Mom learned a lot about herself and her inner strength. Kept your interest.
