Fran is not a psychopath, she swears. She may have murdered two people (& kind of enjoyed it…) but she swears she has good reason for these murders. She could have been a bit more careful in making sure she won’t get caught, but she isn’t too worried. However when her police husband, Gareth, starts working on the case to solve the most current murder, things aren’t looking great for Fran.
I loved the humor & banter throughout this story 👏🏻 Told from both Fran & Gareth’s POV, this “Dexter meets Schitt’s Creek” novel is unlike anything I’ve read!

Thank you to the author and publisher, Storm Publishing, for allowing me to access an e-read ARC of this book via NetGalley.
Fran is married to Gareth and has recently moved to a new house. When her new elderly neighbour turns out to be a horrible person from her past, Fran decides to kill him. There is only one major issue, Gareth is a Police Detective! Realising his neighbour is missing, Gareth pushes for an investigation!
But what happens when your wife's the murder suspect!
I did struggle a little at the start, with Fran referring to her first murder and being vague about her childhood. It all starts to come together in the second half of the book. However, rather than keep me in suspense, it had me checking if this was a follow-up book, and I'd missed something.
I found Gareth to be annoying, his desperation to be liked, his perfect character that refused to even say the most innocent of swear words, and yet come the end has completely changed in character.
Having said that, I still enjoyed the book. I loved nosy Beryl and her dog Tony and Mep the Cat was brilliant!
It was an easy and quick read, with dark humour throughout. It's a book to pick up when you need something a little lighter.

"Marriage is about compromise. For example, I kill people. Garett doesn’t. So we meet in the middle—I kill fewer people."
🔪My Thoughts
My Wife the Serial Killer is a delightfully dark and quirky debut from Garbett. Told in dual POV—from Fran, an unapologetically unhinged serial killer, and her husband Garett, a police detective—it flips the usual whodunit trope on its head. Here, we know the who and when right away; the fun is in unraveling the why.
Fran is chaotic and compelling, while Garett goes from golden retriever energy to full feral cat by the end. The mystery takes a backseat to the character dynamics and dark humor, making for an entertaining, if slightly slower-paced, read. If you liked All the Other Mothers Hate Me, this should be next on your list.

3.5, I support woman’s rights and wrongs
I really enjoyed “My wife the serial killer”. On NetGalley (thank y’all for the book) It's labeled as a mystery, but it more dark comedy with a side of romance and found family.
Don't go in expecting a huge plot twist Yk the killer and the reasons why pretty early on . The reveal is more of a drawn-out “how is this going to end" moment that makes you question certain characters. The characters are “redeemable”, (Not to me tho) but I couldn't like the male lead (Gareth) later on. The FMC (Fran) is a total badass, though and I loved her.
I personally disliked the ending, but I understand why the book couldn’t end the way I wanted. Ending Thoughts: a total mixed bag of emotions. If you like morally grey characters and stories that make you think as well as the mindfuck series, give it a shot.

This is a great debut novel, it's a quick read with lots of suspence and humour.
So we know who dunnit but we are kept wondering why for a decent amount of the book. This is the one slight issue I had in the fact that I wanted more backstory into Fran's motives and her past with Angus, maybe a flashback or just a little more detailed explanation.
This was definitely my kind of thriller, not too heavy and an FMC whose inner monologue and haste/inexperience (because as she says 2 murders does not yet make a serial killer) added a lot to my enjoyment of the book.
I loved the dual POV here, it was great to see both of their perspectives but I did feel Garath had a bit of a personality change at the end with his actions but then again it shows how he wants to be committed to his relationship.
This was an entertaining read and is great for those who prefer to dabble with a light thriller.

ARC review ... 4.5 stars but Goodreads doesn't do .5
Okay soooo… I absolutely LOVED this book. Like, tore through it in one sitting and cackled more times than I should probably admit for a story involving, y’know, murder.
It’s this weirdly perfect mix of dark humor, murdery chaos, and hilarious banter. I was legit laughing out loud while people were getting offed. That says something, right? (About the book… not me. Probably.)
The only thing that kinda threw me was the whole pregnancy side plot. Like… why? What are we doing with that? It felt like someone snuck in a whole other story while we were busy dealing with serial killer shenanigans.
But honestly? Didn’t even care that much. The rest was such a good time I just rolled with it. Would absolutely recommend if you like a little unhinged and a lot funny.

After a wife murders her despicable neighbor, her detective husband’s investigation into the missing man unearths far more than he bargained for in this darkly comedic thriller.
This cleverly plotted novel is fast-paced with well-drawn characters and just the right level of emotion. Though the book is a little creepy at times, there’s little on-page violence or gore. It’s funny and disturbing in the best possible way.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

This debut thriller has a bold premise: what happens when you realize the person you married is a murderer?
The setup has promise but I found myself wishing for a prologue had offered insight into the protagonist’s backstory and motivations. Without that foundation, it was difficult to connect with her or understand the choices made.
The standout for me was the side characters. Mep the cat is a quiet scene-stealer (as cats tend to be), and Beryl the neighbor brings just the right dose of nosy comic relief—because let’s be honest, we’ve all had a Beryl on our block.
There’s a dry, dark humor threaded through the book that some readers will love, and while the plot doesn’t go as deep as I hoped, it offers a quick, quirky thriller with a sharp satirical edge.
Thank you to the Author, Publisher & NetGalley for the advance copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
