I felt like the story doesn't start until you get to page 200 out of 290. Slow going and poorly built suspense. Was hard to keep my interest going but wanted to finish the book because I don't like leaving them in the middle of.

This was an interesting thriller about a small town where boys are sexually assaulted by a masked man the only other detail they hear clicking sounds. The story follows young sisters growing up in an unstable home with a father they’re afraid of and unhealthy lifestyle. I wanted more from the ending but it was ok.

4.5 ⭐️ - Dark, disturbing, and the fact that it’s based on a true story makes it 10x more terrifying. Definitely a nail biter that kept me turning the pages. I loved the 80s references- very nostalgic for me. I wish the ending hadn’t felt quite so rushed though. I think this one will stick in my mind for a long time. Oh, and there is an epilogue that the author chose to remove from the book, but I’d recommend reading it after finishing the book.

this book had the potential to go in 10 different directions & ANY of those other directions would have been better than how it actually went. the plot FELT like it was going somewhere, for it to never actually go anywhere or honestly matter. boring

The subject of this book intrigued me: a fictional story about real events that took place in the 80s in Minnesota. The story is told from the perspective of a 12-going-on-13 girl who lives out in the country when she and her family learn that some local boy(s) are being attacked. The girl, Cassie, tries to figure out who is doing it to these boys and has a number of suspects, including her creeper dad. The sub-plots, or the twists, into these other characters was kind of distracting, and kind of weird that there were all these creepy guys who could be suspected of these terrible deeds. But I liked the voice of Cassie and could identify with the timing of the novel.
