I loved the way this was written and could identify with the majority of the author's struggles. A very intersectional, sensitive, funny and take-no-bullshit approach to the way women are seen as vessels of male expectations. A must-read.

This book took me ageesss to read. like, 3 months, that's the longest a book has ever taken me to read. It wasn't that I didn't like the book, I definitely did, I'm just not used to this kind of book. This book, while being a sort of beginner take on feminism (still a great thing, everything helps, you've gotta start somewhere I guess) was still definitely something you take stuff away from to reflect on. the illustrations really added a more lighthearted quirk, and made it easy to share ideas with others.

(The small edition)
This book is absoutely awesome - critical, radical, questioning, empowering ...
It's a good starting point in feminist literature and gives you a lot of food for thought. Florence Given states the problems with capitalism and the patriarchy, explaining their effects on peoples beliefs and behaviours while giving concrete examples. She also provides prompts and questions for self reflexion as well as tips on what you could/should do or not do. It's a book I would recommend to everyone, but especially women!
PS: Has trigger warnings for certain chapters

»Until we have fully rinsed out the conditioning that women need to shrink themselves around men to accommodate their 'masculinity' and take up as little space as possible, we will forever be compromising our multifaceted selves for the sake of their egos«

The book is marketed as "an accessible leap into feminism" and this is exactly what you get. It covers a wide range of topics that are discussed in simple language, making them easy to understand. The designs throughout the book were a great addition, too.

Though it provides a good starting point, it didn't add anything new to me personally. It lacked depth in some parts and was too repetitive in others.

Nevertheless, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get into feminism and doesn't know where to start. I know my past self would have benefited from this book were it available to me a few years ago!
