This book was okay, definitely my least favorite in this series so far. It was pretty quick transition from enemies to lovers and the sex scenes were too frequent and too short. All in all enjoyable, but wouldn’t recommend over other books.

Meh; this is the weakest installment of the series so far without a doubt. I really felt like there was zero "turning point" or whatever - I dont think they ever really hated each other so when they finally got together it was rather unsatisifying. Also I thought she was incredibly childish, which made the intimate parts a little awkward/not believable. Even the story... He sees these visions so we already know how things turn out, which makes the "danger" actually not that dangerous. Idk. It's a fine read, albeit the word "prick", but I would almost recommend you skip this one.

Slaying the Frost King was an introduction to Candace Robinson’s works. Even without any background on her world building, I genuinely loved this book. It was such a good read and the characters were well written.

Eirah is a head strong woman, the daughter of a toy maker, who meets with the Frost King under circumstances that are entirely undesirable. You can feel her anger at her predicament. She hates the Frost King and would love nothing more than to kill him herself. I loved her fierce love for her best friend and father, as well as her attitude towards doing what needed to be done, whether the outcome was in her favor or not.

The Frost King is definitely a morally grey MMC in all sense of the word. He starts out broody and grimaces… a lot. His banter was witty and I enjoyed his character development. He cares more for his kingdom and their safety than he’d ever let on, and the flashes of his childhood trauma show more depth to him as a character.

The only thing that prevented me from giving this 5 stars was because I felt like the epilogue was a little rushed. Other than that, it was phenomenal and I cannot wait to explore the other books that are set in this world.

-overall I liked this book but it did fall a little flat
-the plot seemed a bit underdeveloped and I wish the book was longer so it could go more into the world building /magic system so I could better understand the characters.
-the ending was also ?? It just ended but didn’t and the “solution” was in the epilogue?? I thought it would have more of a final direct ending because it’s a standalone book and it didn’t really do that

I did like:
-the banter was fun
-beauty and the beast vibes
-the transition from enemies to lovers was smooth/gradual

It was a nice, quick read overall.

I don't even know where to start, but I didn't like this one bit. The FMC is immature and annoying at best. I lost count of how many times I read "prick" and "bastard" (calling someone this qualifies as being enemies now?), and honestly her animosity towards the king was so unbelievable everything felt forced.
The king is about as bland as they come, too. Personality? Don't know her. My man could be any other MLI in a romantasy novel and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I know 0 about him and what I know was told rather than shown, which has to also be one of my biggest gripes with this book. I can't stand books that hold my hand and this one felt like it held my hand AS it spoon-fed me. Terrible feeling.
This is good for one thing, though. Take a shot every time Morozco says "little bird" and you'll be drunk for a week straight.
Maybe some people come here for the smut, but even that was mediocre. Overall would not recommend.

DNF’d at 30% - I wanted to like this book but the main characters were wildly unlikeable. The names were confusing as hell to keep track of. The book itself is in need of some serious editing to make it flow better. Might give it another shot in the future because Im enjoying the standalone series that it was for, but for now, I’m not pushing myself to finish a story I can’t get into.
